Few surprises in first round boys' games
At the Westmoore Regional, Lawton surged late to
beat Putnam City West, 65-52. Chris Porter scored 22 for the Wolverines.
Westmoore had an easy time against Choctaw, winning 83-61. Devonte Smith
scored 24 for the Jags.
No. 9 Lawton and No. 8 Westmoore will meet
tonight for the Regional championship.
In Midwest City, the favorites both won on
Friday. No. 4 Midwest City downed U. S. Grant, 76-49, while Santa Fe beat
Moore, 60-49. Nick Combs scored 20 for SF. Robert Pruitt scored 26 for the
Generals. The Bombers and Wolves meet in the Regional finals tonight.
Second ranked Putnam City North survived a scare
from Norman North, 56-54, at home. Dennon Mitchell led the Panthers with 30
points. David Morgan scored 23 for the T-wolves. In the other game at PCN,
Del City slipped past Norman, 57-54, despite 20 points by the Tigers'
Vorwald.
The Panthers will host Del City tonight.
On the eastern side of the state, No. 3 Jenks
had little trouble with Sapulpa as the Trojans won 78-48. The other game at
Jenks saw Stillwater edge Enid, 56-48.
No. 7 Broken Arrow used their home court
advantage to beat Claremore soundly, 72-48. The Tigers will host
Bartlesville tonight. The Bruins defeated Tahlequah on Friday, 50-44.
No. 5 Tulsa Memorial beat Edmond North, 78.55,
on the Chargers court. Memorial will meet Owasso tonight. The Rams narrowly
defeated Muskogee, 47-44.
No. 6 Union coated past Sand Springs, 62.48,
while Edmond Memorial outlasted Ponca City, 44-37. The Redskins and the
Bulldogs will play tonight at Union for the Regional championship.
Tonight's game are scheduled for a 7:00 tip off.
