Third time is a charm for
Choctaw as PC is eliminated
There is an old saying that says beating a team
three straight times in a season is the hardest thing to do in sports.
On Saturday, Choctaw and Putnam City met in the
6A Girls Area Consolation Finals. At stake was a berth in the 6A State
championship bracket.
And, yes, it was the third meeting of the two
teams this season. The PC Lady Pirates claimed the first two, but fell short
on Saturday in Harrah.
Putnam City held the early advantage and led
into the third period, but Choctaw came to life and out-scored PC, 16-9.
The Lady Pirates could not overcome Choctaw Lady
Jackets in the final eight minutes and lost, 51-48.
The loss ended a spectacular season for Putnam
City.
Choctaw will meet No. 1 Sapulpa on Thursday at
the Ford Center.
