Memorial tops Huskies in
Edlam, Round 1
In the first of six boys’
games involving the three Edmond high school that are known as Edlam, the
first round goes to Edmond Memorial, as they gained a come-from-behind
2-point victory over rival Edmond North.
The Dogs started quick and
opened a 12-6 lead midway through the first quarter, but North answered with
a 16-point run.
Memorial’s Daniel Romano
led his team back with six points to cut the margin to four points, but
Memorial answered back with five straight points to end the half. North led,
29-20.
The third period opened
with Memorial going on a 14-4 run, but North got their game back.
With 3:08 remaining in the
third period the score was tied 36-36 and this is where the battle started.
North claimed a 6-point
lead as the quarter ended, but Memorial retook the lead in the first two
minutes of the final period, 48-47, as Kendrick Green scored on a pair of
field goals – the second bouncing high on the rim before going in.
Memorial was led in scoring
by Wright’s 16 points. Michael Maxwell added 11 and Romano tossed in 10
points.
North’s leading scorers
were Goetz and Eric Randall with 15 points each.
