Memorial's defense stops Del
City
With a pair of 0-2 teams meeting at Wantland
Stadium, somebody was going to get their first win of the young season.
The Edmond Memorial Bulldogs, who had only given
up 18 points in two games, held the Eagles to a touchdown in each half as
they claimed the victory, 26-14.
Del City opened the scoring in the first quarter
on a 1-yard run by Keno Meadows. The drive began after Memorial fumbled the
ball away on their first play of the game.
But the Dogs answered with a Pete Towne
touchdown from the 4-yard line and a 28-yard field goal by Kenton Panas to
sake a 10-7 lead into the second period.
Shane Roel scored a rushing touchdown for the
Edmond squad on a 18-yard run.
Memorial led 17-7 at halftime.
The second half was not quite as exciting, but
Memorial did score two more times. The first was on a safety and the other
on a 19-yard pass from Towne to Kendric Green.
Del City scored once on a 1-yard touchdown by
Robert Lopez.
