What 0-3 team can make the playoffs?

Can a team that is winless through three non-district games make the 6A playoffs? And if so, which team can do it?

There are six teams to consider: Moore, U S Grant, Choctaw, Broken Arrow, Del City and Bartlesville.

District 6A-1 has a pair of winless teams: Moore and U S Grant. The Lions have played a rugged pre-district schedule: No. 8 Midwest City (lost by 25), No. 9 Westmoore (lost by 2) and unranked Norman (lost by 5). It does not appear likely they can finish in the upper half of their District. There will be competing with No. 5 Norman North and No. 7 Edmond Santa Fe. They will also face Mustang, Lawton and Putnam City North. But they have a slight chance.

U S Grant has no chance of making the playoffs.

Choctaw is an improved team this year, but will meet several tough 6A-2 opponents: No. 6 Lawton Eisenhower, No. 8 Midwest City, No. 9 Westmoore and a pair of unranked and unbeaten teams - Putnam City and surprising Yukon. The Yellowjackets will not make the playoffs.

In District 6A-4, Bartlesville does not seem to have a chance this year. They have losses to probable playoff teams Enid and Stillwater ... and also to Ponca City. The Bruins' face to much competition in B. T. Washington, Jenks, Muskogee and Owasso. Maybe next year.

There are two teams to consider in 6A-3: Del City and Broken Arrow,

Del City, although they did play Westmoore to a 3-point game, does not appear to have the horses needed to win this race. No. 1 Union and a pair of 2-1 teams, Stillwater and Enid, should be locks for the playoffs. The other qualifier will be the other winless team in the District - Broken Arrow.

The lone qualifier will be BA Tigers - and they have experience doing this. Last season the Tigers were 0-3, but won five of their seven District games to qualify as a third seed in the State tourney. Many, including OKCPrepSports, had Broken Arrow in the Top 10 in the pre-season rankings.

Let's see if history repeats itself. It usually does.
