Santa Fe wins Edmond city title
Santa Fe won the Edmond city title with a
convincing 42-20 win over rival Edmond North. Previously Santa Fe had beaten
Edmond Memorial, 9-6.
The Wolves used a pair of quarterbacks to beat
the Huskies. Cord Pape and Michael Hodges shared the duties.
Santa Fe scored in all four quarters, but had
the game on ice at halftime.
The Wolves scored first on a 45-yard pass from
Hodges to Matt Jackson.
Santa Fe added to their first quarter score with
a 3-yard run by Antonio Slayton.
Pape continued the Santa Fe onslaught with a
66-yard touchdown run in the second period.
Hodges threw another touchdown pass. This time
his target was Steve Sumpter for a 57-yard touchdown on a screen pass.
The Huskies finally reached pay dirt on a 1-yard
run by Casey Giben.
At halftime, Santa Fe led 28-7.
Brian Mills scored for Santa Fe on a 35-yard
touchdown run.
Roy Finch immediately countered by running the
kickoff 7 yards for a touchdown for the northsiders.
Wade McClanahan scored another Huskies'
touchdown on a 2-yard pass from Goben.
The final scoring drive was capped by a 15-yard
pass from Hodges to Jackson.
The Wolves defense was outstanding - especially
in the first half.
Edmond North claimed second place in the three
school rivalry with a 9-6 win over Edmond Memorial in Week One.
