Panthers stop the
Broncos
Playing the Broncos in
Mustang the past few years has been anything but pleasant. The
Mustang high-powered air assault has humbled many a team.
But on Friday it was the
Putnam City North Panthers who were the dominant team. Using a
balanced offense - featuring the arm of Matt Veazey and the running
of Josh Booker, the Panthers won for the third time in four games
this season. More importantly, North is 1-0 in district play.
Musta started the
scoring with a long 44-yard field goal off the foot of Brian
DiDonato.
Hunter Frantz scored for
the Panthers on a 40-yard touchdown run.
In the seocnd period,
Veazy finished a PCN drive with a 1-uard touchdown plunge into the
end zone - giving North a 14-3 lead, which they would carry into the
locker room at halftime.
The teams traded a pair
of touchdowns in the final two quarters. Mustang scored firat and
last on a pair of Hunter Smith touchdowns - 78 and 13 yards each.
North's scores came from
a 28-yard pass from Veazy to sophomore Kevin Cabello and a second
rushing touchdown from Frantz - from the a 7-yard line.
The win improves North's
record to 3-1 and 1-0 in district play.
Mustang falls to 1-3 and
0-1.
