PC North whips Grant

Senior night was Thursday as the Putnam City North Panthers hosted the U. S. Grant Generals.

The Panthers looked to stay tied upon the top of the District and run their record to 8-2 on the year.

The Panthers scored early and often.

On their first possession they marched 40 yards in just four plays. Greg Lewis crossed the goal line on a 9-yard scamper.

Kevin Cabello kicked the extra point - and PCN lead 7-0.

The Panthers got the ball back two plays later when Nic Brock recovered a fumble by Grant. This drive proved to be the only drive in the first half that didn’t end in the end zone.

On the first play the handoff was fumbled and recovered by the Generals.

The next time the Panthers got the ball it took only one play to score. Josh Booker took the handoff and raced 58 yards for the touchdown.

The Panthers scored another touchdown in the first quarter. This time it was a 10-yard run by Lewis. This was his second touchdown of the game.  With 2:04 left in the opening quarter the Panthers had a 21-point lead.

The second quarter was a carbon copy of the first with three drives ending in touchdowns. The first score was a 2-yard run by Booker. The second score was an eight-yard run by Thomas Amous. And the final points of the half were scored by Amous as well on a 14-yard scamper.

PC North led at halftime, 42-0.

Josh Booker had six carries for 133 yards in the first half for an average of 22.1 yards per carry.

The Panthers received t,'he opening kickoff but the return was fumbled and recovered by the Generals on the Panther 17-yard line. Grants Teyshawn Johnson covered those 17 yards in just three carries - and the Generals were on the board.  The point-after kick was blocked.

With 9:53 left in the third quarter the score was 42-6.

The Panthers scored on their next two possessions with a lot of younger players getting an opportunity to play.

The final score was 54-6 - and the Panthers are going to the playoffs next week fairly healthy and rested.
