Pirates state their case as one of the
best
Putnam City held on for a 24-21 win in
Lawton against Eisenhower.
The Pirates held a 24-7 lead after three
quarters, but Ike made the game interesting by scoring two
touchdowns in the final period.
After surrendering a 24-yard touchdown
pass from Brayden Stringer to Bryce Crowder, the Pirates lit the
scoreboard up twice in the second period.
Tyler Wegner scored on a 3-yard run and
Jerome Carr scored on a fumble recovery.
PC scored twice again in the third
quarter on a 1-yard run by Greg Cortes and a 36-yard field goal by
Wegner.
With Eisenhower closing to within three
points late in the game, the Pirates gambled on a fourth-and-short
on their own side of the field. The first down allowed the Pirates
to run additional time off the clock.
The unbeaten Putnam City Pirates have
moved to No. 7 in the latest OKCPrepSports
football rankings.
