Yukon tops Lady Patriots
in overtime
Yukon and Putnam City
West met earlier this season in the El Reno girls' tournament. The
Lady Pats won that contest by 20 points, 59-39.
But Monday night's
make-up in Yukon of a previously scheduled game belonged to the Lady
Millers.
West overcame an early
Yukon lead in the first quarter, but couldn't score in the next two
periods. Well, okay, they did score four points in the second and
third quarters. That was while giving up six and 13 points.
Down by eight entering
the final period, West mounted another comeback - and managed to tie
the game.
West's Javy McKinney
even had a chance to win the game at the buzzer, but her shot rolled
off the rim.
The overtime was all
Yukon. The Lady Patriots could not stop the Millers' big girl,
Hannah Henry. Lob passes into Henry were practically guaranteed
points. And Henry played the fourth quarter and overtime period with
four fouls hanging over her head.
In the end, it was Yukon
taking a 47-37 win in overtime.
The teams will meet
again on Friday at Putnam City West.
Casey Lofton led all
scorers with 18 points.
